Training
Michelle has a unique, flexible, but structured approach to training. Michelle has a Bachelor's Degree in Equine Science and a minor in business management. Dressage is Michelle's primary discipline for training and competition, however she is experienced in the disciplines of jumping, hunters, gaming (Western and English), ranch and trail work. Regardless of which discipline you ride you and your horse can benefit greatly from dressage training.
Young horses are Michelle's passion. "Helping them through their struggles and then seeing them succeed in the training and show arenas is such a joy to experience," says Michelle. Her approach is very focused on listening to the horse, developing confidence, determining where each horses' struggles lie and to develop the correct method for that horse to succeed, as well as developing great basics which are a foundation to success.
She is not just a young horse trainer though, she also enjoys and is talented in bringing horses through the levels as far as each horse can physically and mentally handle with grand prix always as the ultimate goal.
Michelle has worked with a variety of breeds and has ridden and trained in numerous disciplines outside of dressage; she understands where weaknesses may lie in each breed, and can help each horse overcome those weaknesses to the best of their abilities.
Thoroughbreds are her love and has enjoyed re-training and bringing them up the levels over the years.
She has trained with other local trainers as well as national trainers such as Sandi Chohaney and Jodi Cressmen thru clinics. Michelle is constantly learning and adding education and skills to her training through clinics, video lessons, publications, and auditing upper level riders. She is an out of the box thinker, which allows her to take a variety of methods and adapt them to her horses' needs.
